Hypnotherapy and psychotherapy services may be covered by private health insurance, depending on your individual policy and level of cover. As coverage varies between providers, we recommend contacting your insurer directly to confirm the benefits available under your plan.

Hypnotherapy is a guided process that uses hypnosis to help you achieve a deeply relaxed state of focused awareness. In this state, the subconscious mind becomes more receptive to positive suggestions, allowing you to overcome challenges, change habits, and address emotional or psychological issues.

During a hypnotherapy session, your therapist guides you into a state of relaxation, similar to a meditative state. This allows you to bypass the critical, analytical part of your mind and access the subconscious. Positive suggestions and imagery are used to create changes in thought patterns, behaviors, and emotional responses.

Hypnotherapy can be used to address a wide variety of issues, including:

  • Stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Weight management and emotional eating
  • Smoking cessation
  • Phobias and fears
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Sleep disorders and insomnia
  • Pain management
  • Confidence building and self-esteem
  • Breaking unhealthy habits (e.g., nail-biting, procrastination, etc)
  • Breaking Free from limiting beliefs
  • Healing Transgenerational Trauma

MYTHS AND MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT HYPNOSIS

All hypnosis is in fact, self hypnosis. The patient is ALWAYS IN CONTROL. The hypnotist is there to guide and structure the experience but only to the degree that the patient permit. Hypnosis makes it easier for people to experience suggestions, but it does not force them to have these experiences.  The patient may at will refuse a suggestion, do the complete opposite of what has been suggested, or break the hypnotic trance altogether. The patient can not be made to do anything that compromise his/her ethical system unless he/she wants to. Even the most responsive subject can refuse o follow the suggestions of a  hypnotist if he/she chooses to.

Although the word hypnosis is derived from the Greek, hypnos, hypnosis unlike sleep is a state of focused concentration. Although there is a decreased physical activity, the patient is aware and responsive and can remember what went on during and after the experience. the electroencephalograms of people in hypnotic trance do not resemble those people who are asleep.

Since hypnosis is a state of concentrated attention, you can be anxious, even in deep suspense, and still be focused. Physical relaxation is not necessary prerequisite for hypnosis to occur

People range on a continuum of hypnotisability. about twenty percent of people can be hypnotized deeply and easily. About sixty five percent, the large middle group, can be hypnotized to lighter states, and with practice and experience, many of these can go on to experience deeper trance states. Of the remaining fifteen percent, some achieve light trance state. Others are not able to reach any trance state at all due to factors such as fear, lack of motivation or rapport between the therapist and patient. Also, people with a low IQ and those suffering from significant cognitive disorders as they do not have the ability to concentrate well enough to be hypnotized

The trance state can be terminated by the patient at any time. If the hypnotherapist left the room or if a hypnosis tape were interrupted before instructions to emerge were given, the patient will either open his/her eyes or could choose to drift into sleep and would awaken after a brief nap.

Occasionally a patient will resist the instructions to emerge from hypnosis. Usually this happens because the trance is  so pleasant that the patient wishes to remain in this pleasant state for a little while longer. Further instructions will help the patient emerge.

Although hypnosis allows the subject to access memories, often subconscious memories, with great attention to detail, the patient always with awareness and control, can censor what is divulged to the hypnotherapist. The subject can withhold information or even lie, if desired.

It is also important to recognize that the memories themselves are stored on the basis of perception and emotion and can be subject to distortion. While the patient feels that he/she is accurately reporting an event from memory, that report may not be totally inaccurate
